Our family discount makes travelling together better value, all year round.
Planning a family trip? Our family discount is automatically applied when your booking includes at least one adult or senior, one infant or child, and one vehicle (excluding motorbikes). A maximum of 8 people per booking applies.
The discount applies to fares only and covers one vehicle, plus a towed item such as a trailer, caravan, or boat.

Family Discount Terms and Conditions
Eligibility:
Families travelling with Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferries can access the family discount when travelling together with at least one adult or senior, or one infant or child, and one vehicle (excluding motorbikes). A maximum of 8 passengers per booking applies.
Booking:
The family discount applies only to bookings made directly with Bluebridge at bluebridge.co.nz, via the Bluebridge passenger contact centre, or at Bluebridge passenger terminals. It does not apply to StraitNZ Bluebridge freight bookings or bookings made through third-party agents.
Booking requirements:
Your booking must include:
- At least one adult or senior
- At least one infant or child
- One vehicle (excluding motorbikes)
The discount applies to maximum of one vehicle per booking, plus a towed item (for example a trailer, caravan or boat).
Application of discount:
The discount applies to public retail passengers and vehicle fares only for one-way or return travel. The family discount is automatically applied when the booking meets the eligibility and booking criteria.
Other conditions:
- Discount applies to fares only. Optional extras (e.g. cabins, Pōhutukawa lounge, excess baggage, food and drinks) are charged at standard prices.
- Fares are subject to availability and may change daily.
- Removing a child, infant, or vehicle from a booking may mean the fare no longer meets the eligibility requirements. If this happens, standard retails fares will apply, and any fare difference must be paid at check-in.
- The family discount may be combined with other eligible offers, where applicable.
- Payment must be made at booking.
- Standard fare conditions apply as per the fare type booked. All other Bluebridge terms and conditions apply.
- Bluebridge may change or withdraw this discount and its terms at any time without notice.
